Third-party games on Indian Origin store: Ubisoft gets it right, Square Enix doesn’t

Games from the likes of Square Enix and Ubisoft are now available on the Origin store for users in India.

Ubisoft games such as While Assassin’s Creed 3 and Far Cry 3 are available in two versions – standard and deluxe. While the standard editions are priced Rs 999, same as retail price in India, deluxe editions for AC3 and Far Cry 3 are priced Rs 2,649 and Rs 1,499 respectively.

While Ubisoft has taken care to match its Origin price with the Indian retail price, Square Enix hasn’t.

Hitman: Absolution and Tomb Raider, which retail in India for Rs 999, are priced at Rs 2,699 on Origin. Tomb Raider’s Survival Edition is priced Rs 2,999.

If you do want to go the digital route for Absolution, Game4u’s digital distribution service – downloads4u, is offering it at Rs 699.

Ubisoft games make it onto Origin following the publisher’s tie-up with EA, which also sees EA’s games appear on Ubisoft’s Uplay digital service.
