The slow sales of EA’s Titanfall 2 have led to a big price cut for the title less than a month after release.
Leaked in-store ads from High Street retailer HMV show that the game will be cut to 19.99 on both Xbox One and PC. The chain was not officially able to confirm the price to Eurogamer, but did state that a number of discounts will be introduced on Black Friday (November 25th) and hinted that this is most likely one of them.
Titanfall 2 launched on October 28th – a date that was slap bang between Battlefield 1 and Call of Duty. EA had argued that the game would be able to stand on its own merits but despite some absolutely glowing reviews, sales fell well short. A recent interview with developer Respawn certainly had an air of exasperation about it.
Note that the game has already seen its price reduced on EA’s Origin PC store. At launch it cost 49.99, but it can currently be had for 33.32. The Deluxe Edition has also been discounted 33 per cent to 43.32.
This is gutting but also buy it. pic.twitter.com/ISOCvWFknA
