Tretton hails tremendous PS3

Speaking on the US PlayStation blog, Sony America president Jack Tretton has hailed the success of Sony’s PS3 for the speed at which the company has moved to launch a redesign.

For the original Playstation and the PlayStation 2 we announced revisions of the hardware in the third and fourth years,” the exec explained.

We’re very pleased that, short of its third birthday, the PS3 has achieved tremendous milestones which have allowed us to bring out this new form factor and pass those savings onto consumers.

It gives them the opportunity to buy this state of the art gaming system at half the price it originally debuted at in October 2006.”

The new PS3, which it seems is not called the ‘PS3 Slim’, will be released in the UK next month and will cost 249.99.
