Trophies axed from PSP Remasters

Sony’s PSP Remaster series will offer HD visuals and online multiplayer but PS3’s Trophy system will not be included in the games.

That’s according to Siliconera, which claims to have word directly from SCE Japan.

It’s not hard to guess the reasoning behind the decision. Way back in 2009 Sony confirmed that piracy was behind its decision to keep Trophies only on PS3. With the handheld being so widely hacked, the platform holder was concerned that hackers and pirates would abuse the system.

As PSP Remaster titles will be able to swap game data between PS3 and PSP, the scope for abuse is obvious.
