Tropico 5 confirmed for PS4 release

El Presidente and the Tropico series are making their PlayStation debut.

Tropico 5 was announced last year for PC, Mac and Xbox 360. But now publisher Kalypso Media has confirmed the title for PS4, whilst oddly making no mention of a potential Xbox One release.

The publisher also confirmed the latest entry in the island management series will feature multiplayer for the first time in its history, including both cooperative and competitive modes for up to four players.

We are delighted to be able to work with Sony to bring Tropico 5 to PS4 and enter the next-generation market,” said Andrew Johnson, Managing Director, Kalypso Media UK.

"We have been evaluating many new and exciting development opportunities for the Tropico brand and by bringing Tropico 5 to PS4 we open a new chapter in the history of the game. By taking full advantage of the PS4’s processing power the island of Tropico and El Presidente have never looked better," said Stefan Marcinek, Global Managing Director, Kalypso Media.

Tropico 5 is currently set for a 2014 release across all versions.
