Twitch releases a load of stats in its annual recap

Twitch has released its annual recap and revealed that Overwatch was the most popular new game on the streaming service in 2016 among a ton of other stats.

In total there was more than 292 billion minutes of content watched on Twitch last year, with more than 2.2 million unique streamers. 14.2 billion chat messages were sent, with the Kappa emote being used 413 million times, which if you ask us is nowhere near enough. Kappa.

Interestingly they kept exact numbers on Twitch Prime subscribers quiet, but did reveal that more than a million free Twitch Prime channel subscriptions have been handed out since the feature launched.

Arguably the best news is that the Twitch community raised a massive $25.3 million for charity in 2016, with the likes of Awesome Games Done Quick, the Yogscast and Extra Life all raising millions for good causes.
