Two The Last of Us special editions announced

Two special editions have been announced for Naughty Dog’s upcoming survival action game The Last of Us.

The two special editions are essentially the same, with a few differences in each pertaining to the game’s lead characters, and hence the names – Joel Edition and Ellie Edition.

Aside from the game itself, the Special Edition includes the following:

  • Mini artbook
  • Mini comic
  • Screen print effect poster (Joel or Ellie)
  • PS3 controller skin (Joel or Ellie)
  • Slick canvas wrap for the above

There’s also a ton of downloadable content thrown in, including:

  • Survival Pack (bonus multiplayer content)
  • Sackboy costume (Joel or Ellie)
  • Dynamic PS3 theme
  • Game soundtrack download
  • Two PSN avatars – Joel and Ellie

No pricing has been announced for these special editions and it’s unclear whether they will be available in India.

In the recent past, Sony India has been reluctant to release expensive collector’s editions in India. However, the lack of a statue or any other extravagant items in these special editions should keep the price down and leave the door open for an Indian release.

If you are looking for a statue, however, you might want to import the game’s Post-Pandemic Edition, which includes a 12-inch statue of Joel and Ellie. This edition has only been announced for release in the US, where it will retail for a steep $159.

The Last of Us is scheduled for release exclusively for PS3 on 7th May.
