Updated: Super Mario Run launches December 15th

Update: Nintendo has now confirmed that unlocking all of Super Mario Run’s content will set UK consumers back 7.99.

The release date of Nintendo’s plumber mascot’s first foray into the mobile world has been confirmed.

Nintendo has revealed that the mobile title will be launching on December 15th on iOS. While gamers can try the title for free, a one time payment of $9.99 will unlock the rest of the game’s content.

A release date for the Android SKU is yet to be revealed.

Super Mario Run was unveiled on-stage by Shigeru Minamoto at Apple’s iPhone 7 event in September. The success of Pokmon Go this year has caused Nintendo to raise its expectations for the mobile title.

The wait is almost over for a Super Mario game that can be played on mobile devices,” said Nintendo of America’s SVP of sales and marketing, Doug Bowser.

Developed under the direction of Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto, Super Mario Run brings a new take on the series’ beloved action-platforming gameplay to iPhone and iPad for the first time.”
