US: $158m spend on 360 games last month

Microsoft has called its January sales result a great start to what will be "the biggest and best year in Xbox history."

332,800 Xbox 360 consoles was sold last month, and combined sales of 360 software, hardware and accessories reached $313 million.

$158 million was spent on Xbox games alone, with $105.5 million spent on third-party games.

The firm also clams its US installed base is eight millions ahead of PS3.

Microsoft announced a slew of release dates for major titles last night, including DLC for Modern Warfare 2 due in the Spring, Alan Wake, which is due to arrive on May 21st and Crackdown 2 which is set for June.
