US: Guitar Hero DS triumphs

One of modern gaming’s biggest success stories is celebrating newfound domination on Nintendo’s DS, with publisher Activision announcing that Guitar Hero On Tour sold over 300,000 copies in its first week on sale in the US,

The numbers make it Activision’s largest ever DS launch by a considerable margin. It also ranks as one of the firm’s top five ever product launches.

"Guitar Hero is one of the most successful entertainment properties and continues to push the boundaries of innovation with Guitar Hero: On Tour," Activision’s president and CEO Mike Griffith stated. "The game’s breakthrough peripheral brings the Guitar Hero experience to the 41 million DS users in North America and Europe, where they can play anywhere, anytime."

Guitar Hero On Tour will be released in the UK and Europe on July 18th.
