US: Halo 3 claims 2007 software crown

Microsoft’s Halo 3 was the biggest selling game in the US in 2007, shifting 4.82 million copies in just over three months on the market.

The only other title to come close was Nintendo’s Wii Play, which comes bundled with a Wii Remote, having sold 4.12 million copes.

Other top selling games for the year include Activision’s Call of Duty 4 with sales of 3.04 million, Guitar Hero III at 2.72 million, Super Mario Galaxy at 2.52 million and Pokemon Diamond at 2.48 million.

In December alone it was Activision’s next-gen FPS that triumphed with sales of 1.47 million units, followed by Super Mario Galaxy at 1.4 million, Guitar Hero III at 1.25 million and Wii Play at 1.08 million.
