US: Wii Play tops 08 best sellers

New NPD figures show that Wii Play was been confirmed as the best selling multi-SKU game of 2008 in the US.

The figures confirm that Nintendo’s 2006 mini-game collection outsold all other games during 2008, with 5.28 million units sold, MTV reports. Nintendo also secured the No.4 position, with Mario Kart Wii selling 5 million units.

EA’s Madden NFL 09 came second, with 5.25 million units sold since its release, with Grand Theft Auto IV at No.4, having sold 5.22 million units. Finally, Call Of Duty: World At War was the fifth bestselling game in the region, with sales of 4.63 million units.

NPD recently released statistics for games performance in 2008, boasting revenues in the US to the tune of $21.33 billion.
