US: Wii Sports Resort sells 500,000 units

Nintendo announced that Wii Sports Resort has sold more than 500,000 units in the United States.

The platform holder’s first MotionPlus-compatible title passed this milestone within its first two weeks of release, having hit shelves on July 25th.

Through Monday we sold one copy of Wii Sports Resort roughly every 1.5 seconds continuously since it launched in the United States,” said Nintendo Of America’s executive vice president of sales and marketing Cammie Dunaway.

This tells us consumers were eagerly waiting to get their hands on these fun activities, and it’s a great start for a game that will have long-lasting appeal.”

Wii Sports Resort has enjoyed similar success in the UK, holding onto the top spot of the ELSPA GfK-ChartTrack All Formats chart since it was released two weeks ago.
