Vivendi confident of Geometry Wars success

Cult shooter Geometry Wars hits Wii tomorrow – and publisher Vivendi is confident that its critical success can translate into impressive sales.

The release has been subject to several improvements over the original Xbox Live title and has been wowing the critics, product marketing executive Gary Chantler told MCV:

Everyone’s been incredibly positive about the game. We really couldn’t be happier about the reception from the UK specialist print press thus far.”

Alongside extensive press coverage, Vivendi plans major online promotions and a merchandising campaign.

We’ve managed to cram a huge number of new features into the game,” added Chantler. The extended single-player mode is a massive addition that takes the gameplay way beyond the earlier iterations. We also include a full version of Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved that can even be downloaded from your Wii.”
