Vlambeer, Double Fine, Half-Brick and Crytek sign up to ID@Xbox indie initiative

The director of the ID@Xbox initiative has outlined the extensive number of partnerships Microsoft has forged with indie devs for the Xbox One.

Xbox One dev kits have now been shipped to over 50 studios and confirmed partners include Vlambeer, Double Eleven, Slightly Mad Studios, Team 17, Double Fine, Half-Brick, Ninja Bee, The Men Who Wear Many Hats, Iron Galaxy and Born Ready.

It has also been confirmed that Ryse and Crysis creators Crytek want to self-publish titles on the machine.

At ID@Xbox, we’re as happy as anyone that Xbox One has shipped, but we still have our game faces on because there’s still a lot for us to do,” ID@Xbox director Chris Charla stated.

We’ve had thousands of developers express interest in ID@Xbox and we continue to make some big strides to lower the barriers for independent developers to self-publish on Xbox One. We want to make Xbox One a great platform for developers of all scales and sizes for years to come.

We’ve been amazed at the response from developers to ID@Xbox, and we really appreciate their patience as we ramp up the programme.”

Mike Bilder of indie dev Jackbox Games added: "While the rest of the world seems to be making it harder and harder for the little guys to succeed on their own, Microsoft is making it easier – that’s another step toward a truly free market. As one of the little guys, that’s refreshing. Plus, Microsoft has never once made fun of our height or pants."
