Rift, Defiance developer closes second studio in a week

Trion closes Guildford office

Trion Worlds, the developer of Defiance and Rift, has confirmed that it’s closing its Guildford publishing office.

This comes just under a week after former Trion chief creative officer Scott Hartsman returned as CEO on the same day the company confirmed it had closed its San Diego studio.

"As part of its recent company realignment, Trion’s European publishing office based in Guildford, UK, will be closing down," said Trion Europe’s director of communications Jonathan Goddard.

"European localised versions of Trion’s live and upcoming games will not be affected as all regional game development and support continues from Redwood City, CA."

This leaves the company with just two locations in Redwood and Austin, with two titles still in the works.

All work on the dual TV show and MMO franchise Defiance is now taking place at the company’s Redwood office.
