Plants vs Zombies 2: Time-travelling free-to-play sequel out now for iOS

PopCap’s tower defence phenomenon Plants vs Zombies has made its long awaited return.

As with most of EA’s popular mobile franchises, Plants vs Zombies 2: It’s About Time has gone free-to-play, and this time around, the game will take players through multiple historical time periods.

The developers plan to roll out regular updates for PvZ 2 in the form of new worlds with new plants, zombies and challenges. The initial game will feature three worlds, with over 60 levels. If Real Racing 3 is anything to go by, you shouldn’t expect any of those updates to be free.

PvZ 2 will, of course, feature new plants and zombies as well as gameplay enhancements in the form of plant food dropped by dead zombies, power-ups, side missions, and mini-games.

While Plants vs Zombies 2 is currently only available for iOS, it will be headed to other platforms later this year and next year.
