Warframe dev Digital Extremes lined up for acquisition by a chicken meat supplier

Digital Extremes could soon find itself in the hands of a surprising new owner.

Gamasutra reports that free-to-play specialist Perfect World has teamed up with chicken meat supplier Sumpo Food Holdings to acquire the Warframe studio, with a bid having been filed this week.

Due diligence pending, everything should be completed in the near future.

Prior to free-to-play PC, PS4 and Xbox One shooter Warframe, Digital Extremes is best known for working on various ports of an assortment of titles including Star Trek, The Darkness II, Homefront and BioShock.

It is also the creator of the proprietary Evolution Engine game engine.
