Wii leads Nintendos Japanese charge

Famitsu publisher Enterbrain has reported that Nintendo Wii has demonstrated firm control of the Japanese home console market for the fiscal first half running from April to September.

In the period Nintendo managed to sell 1.6 million Wii consoles, whereas Sony sold 385, 492 PS3s. Nintendo’s DS sold 3.5 million units, and the PSP one million.

The Japanese market itself expanded by 21.7 per cent year-on-year, raising YEN 292.8 billion.
