Wii Remote sells 65.3m in US

Nintendo has announced that it has sold a total of 65.3m Wii Remote controllers since launch in the US alone.

This averages out as 46k sales per day.

Specifically, NPD data shows that 30.41m have been sold alongside Wii hardware, 12.92m have been sold with Wii Play while 18.56m stand alone purchases have been made. A further 2.44m versions of the black Wii Remotes have sold along with 467,500 pink models and 465,200 blue ones.

NPD also estimates that 52.9m Nunchuck controllers have been purchased in the region.

The news comes ahead of the launch of the new WiiMote Plus in the region on November 7th.
