Wii U ‘50% more powerful than PS3’

A speculative claim from Sterne Agee analyst Arvind Bhatia has suggested that Nintendo’s Wii U will offer a significant performance advantage over Sony’s PS3 and Microsoft’s Xbox 360.

"Some of the developers we spoke to indicated to us that the console will have 50 per cent more processing power compared to the PS3 or Xbox 360," he is quoted as saying by Industry Gamers.

"This is yet to be confirmed by Nintendo."

The claims read somewhat differently to those made by id Software’s John Cormack that the device is directly comparable, in spec terms, to Xbox 360 and PS3.

Nintendo has admitted that it used PS3 and Xbox 360 game footage in its E3 Wii U presentation.
