Xbox 360 motion tech gets dated

Whether or not Microsoft will actually reveal a WiiMote rival at its E3 showcase tonight is still open for debate – but Xbox 360 gesture control IS coming to the market this year thanks to Gametrak.

Kotaku spotted that the Gametrak Freedom, which first came to light nearly a year ago, has been given a US Xbox 360 release date of October 5th according to retailer Electronics Boutique.

Like Nintendo’s console, the Freedom relies on the pacing of sensors by the TV – though in Freedom’s case two sensors are needed, with one sitting on either side of the TV.

Freedom is set to be bundled with mini-game collection Squeeballs: Island Party. There’s no word yet on a European release date.
