Xbox Gold not needed for EA Access unless you want to play online; UK prices confirmed

Xbox One owners don’t need Xbox Live Gold membership to buy into EA Access -that is, unless they want to play online.

EA Access is a new subscription service that grants members unlimited access to certain EA titles and discounts on EA digital purchases.

Any Xbox One gamer can join EA Access and take advantage of the benefits of membership,” an EA rep told Joystiq. In order to connect to multiplayer gameplay on the Xbox One platform you will need a subscription to Xbox Gold."

EA has also confirmed that UK membership will cost 3.99 per month in the UK (as opposed to $4.99 in the US). It appears as if there’s not yet an annual membership option in the UK (which there is in the US, priced at $29.99).

Sony earlier said that EA Access won’t be appearing on PSN as it doesn’t represent good value.
