XBOX: Kinect demoed on stage

This is what happens when technology stops getting in the way” – that’s the line that Xbox Live general manager Mark Whitten has used to introduce Kinect to the LA audience at E3’s press briefing

An on-stage designer simply waved to sign in to the software. Kinect recognised him straight away, and then responded to a number of commands such as ‘Xbox’ or ‘Zune” (to access the console’s media library). Simple hand gestures were used to browse the machine’s music library in an impressive tech display.

This is our vision for entertainment”, Whitten added, going on to state that Xbox Kinect users will be able to use a whole range of services such as Facebook without on controls via their console.

A global launch in every territory currently stocking Xbox was confirmed.
