XBOX: Halo series tops 34m

Halo: Reach will see a number of new additions to the multi-million selling FPS series, which has now surpassed 34 million units sold.

During its E3 press conference, Microsoft announced the Halo series has sold 34 million units to date, with fans racking up 2 billion hours of online play. It was also announced 2.7 million players participated in the Halo: Reach beta.

A demonstration of Reach revealed a number of new additions to showed a team of Spartans assaulting a Covenant facility. The characters were able to use more brutal melee kills, rather than the series’ usual one-hit elbow kills.

The demo ended with the Spartans flying into space in a cutscene, where control was returned to the players for intense dogfights – a new addition to the series’ acclaimed vehicular combat.

Halo: Reach is due out in the UK on September 14th.
