Yamauchi: Gran Turismo 6 on PS4 could become Gran Turismo 7

Sony’s decision to release GT6 on PS3 rather than the shiny next-generation PS4 caused some confusion, but the racing simulator could find its way onto the new console.

Kazunori Yamauchi, CEO of Gran Turismo developer Polyphony Digital revealed during a Gamescom panel session that the studio is considering bringing the PS3 title to PS4 – but it might evolve into a sequel.

According to Joystiq, Yamauchi believes a PS4 port for GT6 would more than likely be released as Gran Turismo 7. He also said he wasn’t sure if the "vision" of GT6 would carry over to its hypothetical (but no doubt inevitable) follow-up.

Gran Turismo 6 was announced for PS3 earlier this year. At Sony’s Gamescom press conference on Tuesday, it was given a release date of December 6th.

It has previously been hinted that the racing game could be developed for PlayStation 4 as well.
