Yo-Kai Watch series surpasses 7m sales

Yo-Kai Watch developer Level-5 has revealed its RPG franchise has combined to sell in excess of 7m units on Nintendo 3DS.

Gematsu reports on the figure, explaining that it accounts for both physical and digital sales since the release of the original Yo-Kai Watch in Japan.

The IP has thus far remained exclusive to the region, though the first game is in development for a western release at some point in 2015 as well.

The news comes ahead of the studio’s plans to fully unveil Yo-Kai Watch 3 in April.
