Demons Souls triples expected sales

Japanese publisher Atlus has reported that its acclaimed Demon’s Souls sold three times more than it estimated in North America.

The game, which wasn’t released in the UK, was expected to sell 75,000 copies. However Atlus ended up shifting 280,000 by the end of its second fiscal quarter in February – almost four times its original estimation.

Atlus’ parent company Index Holdings posted the interim sales figures of Atlus’ products, as revealed by Siliconera.

Other game sales included Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 which sold 225,000 units – above its planned 170,000. And 101 in 1 Party Megamix was scheduled to sell around 100,000 copies but ended up selling 189,000.

Demon’s Souls never made it to the UK when it was released in the US in October last year. Sony previously admitted it was a mistake” not to have done so.
