Peter Molyneux's reinvention of the god game genre utilised Develop Award-winning version management tool

22cans chooses Perforce for Godus development

Perforce has revealed that its leading project management software was used by the 22cans team on its latest title.

The UK studio, headed up by Fable creator Peter Molyneux, used Perforce to help with development of Godus, and says the tool helped reduce operational costs.

22cans used Perforce to handle 1.5TB of code that’s constantly changing, which helps them release new updates for the game. The studio also took advantage of Perforce’s 20/20 program: free software and support for 20 users or workspaces.

"Perforce has played an integral role at every stage of the game’s evolution, from pre-release development to post-release operations," said 22cans co-founder and CTO Tim Rance. "As a team of 22 developers, we had limited resources to produce a triple-A quality game, so we learned early on that the right tools and processes are almost as important as the code itself."

Perforce won the new Tools – Production category at this year’s Develop Awards.
