Joined by Senior VP John Blakely as company reels from financial turmoil

38 Studios CEO Jen MacLean steps down

The CEO and Senior VP for 38 Studios have reportedly left the company, according to their Linkedin profiles.

The move, spotted by WPRI, comes during a storm of controversy surrounding the company’s financial situation.

Studio founder and baseball great announced there had been layoffs at the company last week, as 38 Studios struggled to pay a million dollar installment on a $75 million state guaranteed loan provided to the company as incentive for a move to Rhode Island in 2010.

CEO Jen MacLean has been on maternity leave for the past two months, and listed the date of her departure as March 2012.

Senior VP John Blakely lists his departure as taking place this month, but appeared at hearings on Monday alongside Schilling.

Blakely, a veteran of DC Universe Online and Everquest 2, arrived at the company in March of this year.
