â??Divorce gameâ?? released by Australian Government

The Australian Federal Government has funded a video game and book aimed at helping children under 12 cope with divorce.

Developed by the Community Counseling Service of the Boystown family-based charity in Brisbane and distributed by the Department of Human Services, the game is intended to encourage conversation between children and parents.

"What these resources are trying to do is talk to kids in their own language and let kids understand it’s not their fault mum and dad are breaking up,” Boystown GM Wendy Protheroe told ABC News.

Australia’s human services minister Tanya Plibersek was also promoting the benefits of the game.

"It provides an opportunity for parents to sit with children and go through the games and go through the activity book,” she said.

“The discussions that are naturally prompted by doing these activities are very important."
