Tech company hopes to get more game devs on Creative Cloud

Adobe launches Flash developer tools

Adobe has added a set of Flash game development tools to its cloud-based armory.

The company has faced a number of setbacks for its once mighty platform as Mobile devices (which generally don’t use Flash) and HTML5 have taken center stage for developers.

The tools Adobe offers are clearly geared towards stealing some of the mult-platform thunder from rival HTML5 devkits.

Adobe Scout, Adobe Gaming SDK, and the Flash C++ Compiler are all available for free on Adobe’s Creative Cloud service.

A subscription runs about $50 a month, and provides access to the complete suit of Adobe tools.

Adobe Scout is a profiling tool that provides insights for developers seeking to maximize performance.

The Gaming SDK gives a range of tools for building and monetizing games for Web and mobile, including a few open source 2D/3D frameworks.

Developers who want to port a C++ game to Flash can use the Flash C++ Compiler, which ports code from the Industry’s most popular language for use in browsers.

While these tools are available for free use on the Creative Cloud, they will only be available for a short time, after which a subscription will be necessary.

Developers interested in giving the tech a try while it’s still free can find more information here.
