Milestone reached in under two months, developer confirms

Angry Birds flies past 7m free downloads

Rovio Mobile’s Angry Birds game has been downloaded more than seven million times on Android since its release in mid-October.

The developer revealed the milestone in a tweet, responding to questions about why the game was made free and ad-supported for Android.

When Twitter user ‘Andrew4Lyf’ pointed out that "Not all android games are free", Rovio responded thus:

"True, but the ones with more than 50K downloads are… We just hit 7M downloads on Android".
