Sequel to Star Wars spinoff becomes latest title to join games with toys craze

Angry Birds gets Skylanders style toys

Hasbro and Rovio have revealed Angry Birds Star Wars II will have a line of toys that will interact with the game.

The partnership between the developer and the toy maker was revealed in June, but this latest announcement is the first confirmation that the Angry Birds franchise would get a Skylander-style line of interactive toys.

Skylanders is one of Activision’s biggest moneymaker, and Disney has already launched its own line of competing toys and games called Infinity.

Hasbro is set to launch the new “Telepod” toys soon after the September 19 Star Wars II release.
The toys can be activated with a phone or tablet camera, making the associated character available in-game.

Hasbro will also launch other toys and merchandise that doesn’t interact with the game sometime around the release date.
