Corey May picked up by Certain Affinity as narrative director

Assassin’s Creed writer quits Ubisoft

One of the scriptwriters behind the Assassin’s Creed series has left Ubisoft to take up a new role at Texas-based studio Certain Affinity.

Corey May joins the team as narrative director as Certain Affinity shifts towards developing triple-A games and original IP. Prior to this, Certain Affinity focused on co-development.

May’s credits include Assassin’s Creed I to III and Brotherhood, as well as Army of Two, Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones and Batman: Arkham Origins. He has also written scripts for multiple films.

“Joining Certain Affinity is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” he said in a statement. “The projects are so interesting and intriguing… but it is the entire company team that is the real draw. There’s just so much talent and passion on display here – it’s infectious.”

Certain Affinity president Max Hoberman added: “I’m thrilled to welcome Corey to Austin and Certain Affinity. This is the first of several key new leadership positions aimed at helping us evolve from a co-developer into a full-blown developer of triple-A console and PC games.

“While multiplayer will continue to be an important part of our DNA and our project portfolio, we’re also intent on becoming experts at single-player and co-operative experiences. Best-in-class talent like Corey building and leading our narrative department is a huge leap in this direction, and his experience and perspective will be tremendous assets to us.”
