Rovio claims the latest in the franchise is 'fastest growing mobile game yet'

Astronomical growth for Angry Birds Space

Angry birds has been downloaded over 50 million times in 35 days, says Finnish casual game developer Rovio.

The makers of the hit franchise say this makes it the "fastest growing mobile game yet."

Available for Mac, PC, iOS, and Android, the game is the latest in the series that has become a cultural icon in Finland; from theme parks to plush toys- even appearing on the helmet of Finnish Formula 1 driver Heikki Kovalainen.

"This has been simply amazing," reads the announcement on the Rovio blog.

"The whole Rovio team is thrilled to see such a fantastic reception for the game."
