Autodesk makes game dev tools free to students worldwide

Autodesk has made its suite of tools, including its game development software, free to students, teachers and schools around the world.

Tools available at not cost include Maya, Maya LT (pictured), Mudbox and MotionBuilder, as well as a host of others. The software and cloud-based services can only be used for educational purposes.

Further education resources can be found through the Digital STEAM Workshop and Design Academy.

Autodesk claims the initiative will open up its suite of software to 680 million students and educators from more than 800,000 secondary and post-secondary schools in 188 countries around the world.
