Heidi Newell joins specialist services outsourcer at Montreal operation

Babel hires new audio director

Babel has hired Heidi Newell as its new audio director.

Newell, who has spent 16 years employed in the games industry, has assumed overall responsibility for managing Babel’s expanding audio business and in-house audio post production lab.

Taking a positin at Babel’s Montreal office, she brings with her experience working at Electronic Arts, Big Fish Games and Foundation 9 Entertainment, and is already focused on recording the source English audio for an undisclosed triple-A project. Newell is also to work on a number of localised audio projects, including an unnamed high profile sequel.

"I am very pleased that Heidi has decided to join us as she brings with her a wealth of audio knowledge built up from working with the best people and voice talent in the industry," said Babel CEO Richard Leinfellner. "Under her leadership we plan to continue growing our audio business offering rapid, high quality, and cost effective solutions for our clients."

Babel, which currently boasts a head count of over 600 and has bases in Montreal, Brighton and New Delhi, presently translates some 1 million words per month.
