BAFTA has announced the up-and-coming developers shortlisted for recognition at this year’s Young Game Designers event.
The ceremony takes place on July 23rd and is split across two awards for Game Concept and Game Making, which are subsequently divided into two age ranges: 10 to 14 and 15 to 18.
50 individual designers from across the UK are in the running representing 40 games, as teams of up to three are eligible to enter. A third of the finalists are women, and three games originate from a single school.
BAFTA has also announced that it will present LittleBigPlanet creator Media Molecule with the YGD Hero Award to recognise its efforts supporting young game designers.
Another prize for YGD Mentor will be awarded to a person nominated by the public for their work educating young devs. The winner will be announced on the day.
