Social game company and owner of saucy hook-up app cool off

Bang with Friends concedes to Zynga’s brand ownership

Bang with Friends, an app that helped people find partners for casual sex, is to change its branding, after its makers reached a legal settlement with Zynga.

While Bang with Friends isn’t a game, Zynga objected strongly to the use of its “with Friends” trademark for an app with such a dubious, if decidedly social, purpose.

The app was pulled from Apple’s iTunes App Store in May, but Zynga still filed a lawsuit over the alleged trademark violation.

The company claimed that Bang With Friends was an intentional play on its trademarked IP, and though the terms of the settlement are confidential, it seems this argument carried the day as a statement from Zynga revealed that

TheNextBang has agreed to change the app’s name.

“Zynga and Bang With Friends Inc are pleased that they have reached an amicable resolution of their dispute,” reads the statement.

“Although the terms of the settlement are confidential, Bang With Friends, Inc. acknowledges the trademark rights that Zynga has in its WITH FRIENDS marks and will be changing its corporate name and rebranding its services in the near future.”
