Banjo-Kazooie spiritual successor Yooka-Laylee hits Kickstarter this week

Playtonic Games’ Kickstarter campaign for Banjo-Kazooie spiritual successor Yooka-Laylee is scheduled to begin later today.

A post on the indie studio’s website confirms the crowdfunding effort kicks off on May 1st at 5pm BST, though no word on how long it’ll run for.

The game stars the chameleon Yooka and bat Laylee, and according to the development team is between the size of Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie.”

IGN has published an exclusive scoop on the title that includes word that it will launch on PS4 and Windows PC first, with Xbox One and Wii U versions also in development.

Playtonic itself is composed of former Rare developers, including several members with Donkey Kong Country and/or Banjo Kazooie credits to their name.
