Britney Spears signs with Glu for new mobile game

Mobile games publisher Glu has signed on new celebrity partner Britney Spears to a five-year deal.

Games Industry reports the deal revolves around a mobile game featuring the pop star, with the untitled game currently scheduled for release in 2016.

"I am thrilled to add Grammy Award-winning legend Britney Spears to Glu’s growing list of partners as we continue to expand our celebrity gaming platform," Glu CEO Niccolo de Masi said.

"We anticipate the title resonating tremendously with Ms. Spears’ nearly 90 million multi-generational social followers around the world."

Glu already has similar deals with Katy Perry and Kim Kardashian. Perry’s deal was only signed a couple of months ago, so no related game has surfaced as of yet. Meanwhile, Kardashian’s Hollywood mobile title has been a major success for the publisher.

The signing for Glu comes on the heels of Tencent purchasing 21m shares – or 14.6 per cent – of the company.
