Mudlark chief joins panel of experts to continue UK capital's 'information revolution'

Barnes joins Boris’ digital London team

The Mayor of London’s office has announced details of an advisory board to help guide the capital’s new digital strategies – and there’s a familiar games industry face on the panel.

Mudlark’s Toby Barnes (who has also been involved with the likes of Pixel-Lab) joins a panel of experts from across digital media that will "lead the information revolution in the capital".

Non-games faces on the panel are Professor Jonathan Raper, Emma Mulqueeny (founding Director of Rewired State), Paul Clarke-(tech and strategy consultant), Chris Thorpe (research scientist), Mike Butcher (Editor of TechCrunch Europe), Chris Taggart (the developer behind OpenlyLocal.com), and Christopher Osborne (Business Development Director for ITO World).

London Mayor Boris Johnson has had the board assembled to advise on digital projects including the London Datastore, WIFI London, The London Card and a proposed single non-emergency number for London.

Their role will also be to reflect the views of social innovators in London to the Mayor as well as advising on any relevant technical developments.

Anthony Browne, the Mayor’s Economic Advisor said: "We have begun the process of transforming the way in which information is shared between the government and the public and it has already paid huge dividends with some incredibly exciting new applications being developed at no cost to the public purse.
"The technical expertise of the Digital Advisory Board will be a huge asset in helping us build on the work we have done and to achieve a data movement in London that rivals that of any other big city in the world."
