Gate Five Studio's breach of contract suit upheld by New York Judge

Beyoncé faces $100m suit from game studio

A Manhattan Judge has decided to give a lawsuit against pop star Beyoncé Knowles for walking away from a deal with game studio Gate Five.

According to the New York Post, the singer entered into a $20 million contract with the studio for music game "Starpower: Beyoncé" but unexpectedly backed out, and the company says it was forced to lay off seventy employees.

Beyoncé’s lawyers say she was justified abandoning the deal, as the development team had not secured financing.

The studio claims it was scheduled to sign with a financier on Dec. 6, 2010 when Beyoncé walked away from the deal.

“You continue to negotiate right up until the time you pull the plug. That is not going to work with me,” said New York Justice Charles Ramos.

Beyoncé has taken a hiatus from her career in order to raise her daughter, born January 7, 2012.
