Emilian-Walter Lorenz to spearhead development of global product and marketing departments

Bigpoint hires Nintendo exec as marketing head

German social games publisher Bigpoint has hired Nintendo’s European product manager to head up its global product marketing operations, it has revealed.

As well as spearheading marketing, Emilian-Walter Lorenz, who spent ten years working for the console giant, will also be responsible for looking after the company’s game assets such as trailers and artwork.

“Emilian-Walter Lorenz is a superior product marketing expert with many years of valuable brand experience in the gaming sector,” said Bigpoint CEO Heiko Hubertz.

“For exactly this reason, we are happy to welcome him to the Bigpoint team to put his industry know-how to good use.”

Lorenz added: “I believe Bigpoint has a promising future in the games market and am thrilled to join the team as head of product marketing.

“I am delighted to have the opportunity to lead these departments and, in so doing, implement positive new changes in Bigpoint’s product marketing.”

As well as working as European product manager at Nintendo since 2006, where he was responsible for the development and implementation of marketing strategies for the Wii, he also previously served as brand executive for the GameCube.
