Mark Jacobs leaves as EA streamlines studios

BioWare and Mythic to merge operations

EA is to merge BioWare and Mythic, its two RPG development studios, into a new ‘RPG/MMO studio group.’

Current Bioware GM Mark Jacobs will be leaving as part of the reshuffle, to be replaced by Rob Denton, who co-founded the firm in 1995. He was previously COO and oversaw development duties.

BioWare co-founder and current GM Ray Muzyka will become Group General Manager of the new RPG/MMO studio group, while other founder Greg Zeschuk will become Group Creative Officer.

BioWare already has an MMO division based in its Austin studio, which is working on the new Star Wars MMO The Old Republic. It appears as if both studios will likely keep their identities, with management being shared across both.
