Former Vivendi and Take 2 CTO Jan Lindner takes over from founder Patrick Buckland

Carmageddon creator Stainless appoints new CEO

US games veteran Jan Lindner is the new head of developer Stainless Games.

Stainless is best known as the Isle of Wight-based creator of Carmageddon and Magic: The Gathering spin-off Duels of the Planeswalkers.

Lindner previously served as CTO at Vivendi and Take 2, as well as holding exec positions at Spin Master and telecoms firm Leonid.

He replaces Stainless founder Patrick Buckland, who shifts to the role of executive chairman.

Stainless said in its announcement that the move was an effort to boost its presence on the US West Coast, where it has an office.

“Jan’s role will see him divide his time equally between the UK and US, allowing us to both improve the service we give to our existing US partners and to open up new opportunities for Stainless’ expertise and brands,” said Buckland.

“Stainless is in a unique position to expand and refine its activities globally,” Lindner added.

“I am looking forward to helping it take the exploitation of its natural advantages in the games business to another level.”
