Intel Developer Blog: Find out how the firm's Graphics Performance Analyzers helped improve the latest entry in Giants Software's popular series

Case study: Optimising the 3D graphics in Farming Simulator 15

If you’re feeling cooped up in the office this winter, immerse yourself in Farming Simulator 15, a realistic simulator that puts you in charge of livestock, land and crops.

In this case study, you can discover how the graphics for the software was optimised using Intel® Graphics Performance Analyzers. This tool is available for free as part of the Intel® INDE Starter edition, and was particularly helpful in tracing and fixing a problem in the rendering code for DirectX 9.

The game includes a feature where players can cut down trees, which means the code needs to be able to cut pieces of the visual mesh. Read the case study to find out how this was implemented and to discover more about how the game is created and how updates are managed.

It’s a great insight into the development of a title that is now in its 15th version, and available across Windows, Mac, PlayStation, Xbox and mobile platforms.

Start here if you’d like to find out more about Intel® Graphics Performance Analyzers and try using it to optimise your own games. It can save a huge amount of development time by exposing rendering errors and providing detailed graphics performance stats.
