ChangYou launches Gamiction online free-to-play platform

Online games company ChangYou.com today launched the Gamiction web portal through which it will release online free-to-play games tailored to the Indian audience.

Designed to appeal to Indian mid to hardcore gamers”, Gamiction will feature free browser-based games that require no downloads, with minimal bandwidth usage.

The first game to be released on the platform is Rising Saga, a premier” fantasy MMORPG. ChangYou is also planning to launch DD Tank, a turn-based online multiplayer shooter, on Gamiction within the next few weeks.

The Chinese company has been quite aggressive in India, having initially entered the market with a localised release of its most popular game, Dragon Oath.

With the world’s largest youth population, India as a gaming market offers incredible and exciting potential. Online gaming is the second fastest growing segment in the Indian market, poised to reach CAGR of 22.5% by 2015.
