Branch responsible for publishing games across Chinese app stores

Chillingo opens China office

EA’s mobile game publishing arm Chillingo has opened a new office in Shanghai, China.

The branch will be responsible for publishing titles across Chinese app stores as well as bringing “culturalised” games to the global market. The studio is based in EA’s office already set up in the region.

Chillingo China’s first deal is with mobile developer Happy Fish Games to publish its new game later in the year.

“China represents a tremendous growth opportunity, both for Chillingo and for developers making it a natural location to extend our services,” said Chillingo China head of production Mike Chen.

“China has the largest install base of connected mobile devices of any country in the world combined with an avid gaming audience and a dynamic talent pool – a golden opportunity that Chillingo would love to seize.”
